[ Preliminary Round ]

01 : BRA ( 6-0 )
02 : NED ( 6-0 )
03 : CHN ( 5-1 )
04 : GER ( 4-2 )
05 : JPN ( 3-3 )
06 : RUS ( 3-3 )
--------------TOP 5 teams can go to the FINAL ( except HOST Japan )
07 : POL ( 2-4 )
08 : USA ( 2-4 )
09 : THA ( 2-4 )
10 : PUR ( 1-5 )
11 : KOR ( 1-5 )
12 : DOM ( 1-5 )

This week POOL
[ CHN, POL, NED, DOM ]
[ BRA, JPN, GER, KOR ]
[ USA, TAI, RUS, PUR ]

I think POL must be hard all win( vs.CHN, vs.NED, vs.DOM ) , so need't care about Hong Kong round.
The most key are GER and Thai round.
First, USA has to win all 3 games, and hopefully [ T●● beat R●● ]
Go and Fight :!:

When I see these pictures, it was taken in 2nd round in Taipei.(USA-NED)

I thought Team USA hasn't perfected Block system.USA uses 3 players’ blocks but it seems the block isn’t like a ball, so NED can find blank space anywhere. OH should take a position more close to MB. It isn't systematic. MB should lead of Block system and and if someone is not good at reception, she should concentrate for only spike. USA reception was really bad, so setter can't toss nice ball for attacker, and impatience makes easy misses like attacking Strong OUT ball, just return to opposite site is OK. So USA rely on Nancy and she has to be tuff. Unfortunately, Nancy had small injury during a 2nd set so has to OUT altough. ( She played in last day, so hopefully it will be better soon ) Jordan did a great job and Stacy and Nicole were good as usual. Stacy was starting in Taipei round, she showed strong fighting sprits and lead young players. I think Nancy will be OH position from OPP is better, because her reception is good.

USA sometimes changing 2 players as usual. [ Setter①⇔Attacker② ][ Attacker①⇔Setter② ]
[ Courtney⇔Nicole ][ Nancy⇔Angie ] Why a coach changes Nancy :?:

I think USA needs more strengthened defenses and needs block out technique ( Spike to OPP blocker and get site out point) and sometimes using tip spike technique. It isn't good just attack only strong balls.

I watched 3 games in Taipei. I watched Young Team USA all game were close to Win. I wish this result is going to good way for next step! Courtney's serves was really great, her serves is jumping-floater. She has nice control. All 12 players could play on a court. I think it was the best thing for USA.

Naa,I agree your viewpoints!

I also think why they don't use tip spike technique. They can't get points easily by strong spike but they always lose points from match's tip spike. Else, they really should advance their reception,or setter won't set well.

I think Jordan(#11) did a good job on reception and Alexis(#9) also serves well.
Courtney(#15) is an excellent setter though she is not tall. She always can save many "dangerous balls" and try her best to toss any balls from bad reception.

By the way, thank you for your gift,Naa!

1 : Nicole Fawcett
I already heard she is tall and very powerful hitter, and YES She was!
If she learn tip spike, she could be stronger attacker!

4 : Angela McGinnis
15 : Courtney Thompson
Courtney’s serve was really good, miracle server! She DID 5 or 6 times in a row serves.
Always the serving put OPP reception off balance. Courtney and Angie are different style setter, so it's good point. Angie is tall, so could help blocks. USA can make different rhythm.

5 : Stacy Sykora
6 : Nicole Davis
Both Silver Medalist, I think many fans already know about them so I needn’t tell anything.
Always speak speak to teammates, and care for young players.
[ Right now, I'm here ] Stacy said when she backed to on a court!! She prayed before starts a game as usual. This time USA reception was BAD, so Libero and Super-receiver (Nicole) must be hard. It was funny, Stacy always practice [ Spike ] only once!
One day, when Stacy hit a ball, the toss ball was a bit close to her, so she asked DO IT once more and DID nice spike.
Have you ever watched Libero's spike??? and It's really Cool!

8 : Cynthia Barboza
10 : Kristin Richards
Both Cynthia and Kristin, Their play style was really similar.
I felt they aren't normal self at the time, really UP and DOWN.
I think both attackers are going to be lead in USA future, so keep fighting!!!

9 : Alexis Crimes
Alex is sharp MB and her block position is good!
Her shape looks like Kim-G. Her serves is also good.

11 : Jordan Larson
She is the best solid player. She isn't very powerful hitter also isn't hard blocker, but she can play anypostion. Especially, she helped lots nice reception. She did very well.

12 : Nancy Metcalf
Nancy got [ Best Scorer ]in Taipei Round. Congratulations!!
She is an exceptional player in Team USA.
Unfortunately, she had an injury during 2nd match and had to OUT, but she got a prize in this round. How many killed she did!? We really need her. I felt [ She finally backed to NT. ]

13 : Tracy Stalls
She couldn't have a chance to play in BRA round, so It was first time to play in Taipei round.
She is tall and Powerful, so I'm looking forward to watching her games as starting-lineup next time.

18 : Foluke Akinradewo
I think she is the best powerful blocker. Her block position was good.
I hope she is doing well in 3rd round too.

-----------------------12 players Roster
7 : Angela Pressey
16 : Christa Harmotto
---------- Come to 2nd Round with 12 players

It is just my opinion.
Athens OG head coach : Toshi Yoshida from Japan
Beijing OG head coach : Lang Ping from China
Both coach are from Asia, Asian think VB based a reception or dig. It's the most important thing for starting play a game. Hugh McCutcheon was Mens team coach! and Men's VB is POWER POWER volleyball. I think we have to know what is different things between Men and Women style.
I watched only 3 games, so I don't know anything yet, but looking forward to seeing Team USA next game.

With all her Olympic and international experiences, I am very disappointed with Davis. Her passing is mediocre and she seems really slow on defense. She just cannot read what the ball is going to go.

I watched the three games in Brazil, she struggled like a first-timer. USA needs to develop new liberos in their system. Sykora is past her prime time and the only reason to keep her around is to help the progress of newbies, IMO. I wouldn't want to see both these two liberos through 2012.

For the college girls, they are not at the par of international level yet. But I expect Akinradewo, Harmotto and Fawcett will have good shot to make Team USA in 2012.

USA-RUS
1-3 ( 21-25, 24-26, 25-19, 17-25 )

USA lost against Russia today, and It means Unfortunately...USA is out of the Final Round.

I think Hugh maybe trust Nancy more than Fawcett and Paolini.
But I think Hugh do one thing right→Cynthia (in starting-lineup)
